It finally happened. I’ve been dreaming of a bride wearing a red dress, and not only did I get one wearing a red dress, but red shoes and a red veil. I was in color heaven. Red has been a personal addiction of mine in all my work, and Stefanie just fed it big time.
What made this wedding even more special was it was at just outside of my Colorado Springs hometown in Manitou Springs. Shooting in Florida has its perks with glorious light, beaches, and color everywhere, but Colorado holds a special place in my heart. Stefanie’s red dress popped out of every background we chose. She was stunning.
These two cats were awesome to work with. They incorporated themselves into every aspect: from self-officiating their own wedding (yes, they performed it themselves) to being able to witness one of the most romantic things a groom has done for a bride. Get this: Eric hid the fact for months that he had grabbed a violin that he has never played and took secret lessons to learn one song for her as a fan of the instrument. Instead of a vow, he played a song to Stefanie, who in turn bawled her eyes out over hearing her groom play for the first time ever. Pretty amazing stuff.
Stefanie and Eric ditched the photo family photos and big blowout reception and we just spent the time roaming around this little mountain town making pictures and at a classic Penny Arcade I used to come to as a high schooler. We returned to a fire pit and microbrews as the temperature dropped to degrees this Florida kid isn’t really used to anymore. Nonetheless, it was such a fun time at a beautiful venue: The Cliff House.
